Dr. Bukret is one of the few physicians qualified to perform endoscopic procedures in Argentina. He also uses standard concepts that have been modified to augment his personal method, a less invasive, minimal-incision technique that is based on an artistic premise and personalized to accommodate the unique needs of each patient. This technique has earned him invitations by preeminent physicians in San Francisco, California, to attend their procedures, and to perform clinical rotations with some of the most renowned plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills, California.
He has applied for membership with the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). (The expected approval date for acceptance is late 2008/early 2009.) Dr. Bukret personally assesses the patients and performs all of the plastic surgery procedures.
Dr. Pesce is a noted mammologist who has completed several fellowships (most recently in Milan, Italy), and has done ground-breaking work in cancer diagnosis. She specializes in breast oncology (diagnosis and surgical treatment), and is highly qualified in breast surgery. She also assists Dr. Bukret during some surgical procedures, as she is trained in plastic and cosmetic surgery as well). She devotes the remainder of her time to mammary research at the private Italian Hospital in Buenos Aires.
Buenos Aires Plastic Surgery prides itself on our interaction with other
specialists (such as our cardiologist and anesthesiologist), and our relationship with the medical staff at the Sanatorio de los Arcos, one of the most modern and efficient hospitals in Argentina and the newest in Buenos Aires.
Unlike many other doctors' offices and clinics, there will be only a minimal need to visit the hospital for anything other than your surgery itself. One of the most important parts of our practice is that you know your medical team and develop a bond of confidence and trust with them.
Our Distinctive Care
Our patient base is international, and as a result, Buenos Aires Plastic Surgery has found it critical to carefully consider the numerous and weighty current issues affecting the health care field in the United States and Europe. These topics, of course, affect nearly all of our patients in some personal way.
Concerns such as AMA opinions on overseas medical procedures, the large increase in massive weight loss surgeries, the insurance crisis and comparative pricing, FDA approvals, and the breast cancer “epidemic”—along with many other subjects—influence millions of people, and one of them has more than likely impacted the lives of every one of our patients in some way or another. Since our primary focus is our patients, we always want to hear from them about their needs and concerns, and how other factors may have had an influence on those same matters. Chances are we’re on top of the situation and can custom-tailor our care to accommodate every patient and their own unique situation and needs.
We are also aware of how overwhelming it can be dealing with the many details involved with surgical procedures, especially when having them performed in another country. That is why, at BAPS, we want to make our patients’ experience in Argentina as free of stress and comfortable as possible by assisting them with or alleviating many of these concerns.
South America, especially Brazil, has always been an attraction for cosmetic or reconstructive surgery; however, Argentina is now recognized as an emerging, powerful presence in the provision of care in those fields. It's also more financially feasible, because it's less well-known. Drs. Bukret and Pesce are uniquely qualified to provide care that surpasses that of many of their contemporaries. Since they work as a team, their patients receive the kind of superlative attention that most other private practitioners are incapable of offering.
Beginning Your Journey
During the inquiry stage, our Personal Assistants will be your contacts as you make initial decisions and coordinate your care with the medical recommendations of our professional team. The entire BAPS staff will be helping you make informed choices, and will be at your service both before and after your surgery in Buenos Aires. We will also follow-up with your progress and answer any questions you may have after your return home.
Your first step involves communicating with our office via email or phone. We offer a web-specialized consultation (in which case you can fill out this form). You should describe your needs as meticulously as possible, and explain your goals as precisely as you can. If you wish, we will send you before and after photos of patients who have had similar procedures to the one(s) you require, with their permission. We also have many patients who are willing to speak with you about their experience with our office, should you so request.
We'll ask you for photographs of yourself, to assist our doctors in your evaluation. Dr. Bukret will then compare these photos to your requirements and expectations, so as to better provide you with the most realistic outcome of your surgery or surgeries. Be assured that your photos will be held in the utmost confidence and shared with no one except our physicians and Intake Coordinator. If you decide not to utilize our services for any reason, your files will be deleted from our system. Your protection and health are our utmost priority!
Please keep in mind that our physicians, of course, welcome the opportunity to consult with other doctors who have been treating you (in the case of oncologic patients, patients who have had previous cosmetic and/or plastic surgery, massive weight-loss patients, or patients who have therapeutic or
psychiatric considerations involved in care).
The Next Step
You will be able to speak with Dr. Bukret as many times as you need to. If, after your case is completely evaluated, you choose BAPS as your health care provider, we will proceed with scheduling your in-person appointments. We will also send you a detailed Preoperative Evaluation form to complete.
Many times, patients don't know what to expect from surgery, or how to best prepare for surgical work in Buenos Aires. We will be pleased to help you with the many aspects of your visit, including guidance to support groups and what to expect from surgery both emotionally and physically. We may also assist you with flight plans, apartment rental and small details such as pharmacy locations and arrangements of other activities while you are in Argentina. We suggest you plan as far in advance as possible in order to receive the most comprehensive care our team can provide you with.
For your protection, BAPS recommends that you have an EKG and blood test (we will specify what levels you need to have tested) performed two months or less prior to your arrival in Buenos Aires, and that you inform us of any pre-existing medical conditions. The tests are preliminary, inexpensive, and simple, and can be done by your General Physician and an independent lab. These tests will be repeated in our offices.
We want to make certain that you do not arrive in Argentina with any condition that would prevent or interfere with your surgical procedures. Remember–your safety and satisfaction are our most important concerns!
Upon Your Arrival in Buenos Aires
One of our Personal Assistants will greet you at the airport and escort you to your accommodation. In many cases, we can arrange accommodation in the same building in which our office is located.
After you are settled in, a personal consultation with your doctor will take place, after which more thorough and precise advice can be rendered, and decisions regarding treatment planned accordingly. Your initial consult with the Plastic Surgeon will be followed by discussions with and evaluations by our cardiologist.
Your Surgery
The day of your procedure, you'll be escorted to the hospital and have the opportunity to speak to your physician and anesthesiologist, if you'd like, before the surgery. Post-op, if it becomes necessary or is deemed prudent for your comfort or well-being to stay overnight, our assistants and your doctor will monitor you frequently, and the excellent nursing staff will be there to assist you constantly. Our patients are pampered and catered to, but always with their medical considerations, their emotional outlook, and their physical safety foremost in mind.
After you leave the hospital, and if you have medical needs that require it, your doctor will make visits to check on you post-op without you needing to come into the office, although your plastic surgeon will be following your recovery progress closely through office visits, also. Only your doctor, and no one else, will complete follow-up work with you. Unlike many other medical offices, at
BAPS you will not have clinicians, nurses, or other doctors attend to you during your recovery period, although they will always be available to help.
After Your Return Home
We understand that many times, patients have questions or concerns during the time it takes for their surgery to show complete results, and this process can sometimes take from six months to a year. Our patients are encouraged to keep in contact with us, and we will with you, long after your surgery has been completed. It is extremely important for us to know you are happy and physically comfortable with the results of your procedures. You are the focus of the Buenos Aires Plastic Surgery team's attention and efforts! Now is the time to begin your journey!
